Senior Engineer - Naval

Jackson Hogg are delighted to be supporting a growing and highly respected marine and offshore engineering consultancy based in Blyth, who are looking to appoint a Senior Engineer.

This is a full-time, permanent opportunity offering the chance to play a key role in delivering complex offshore and marine engineering projects, providing technical leadership, assurance, and hands-on engineering support across a diverse project portfolio.

Responsibilities:
  • Act as the technical authority across projects, ensuring engineering solutions are safe, compliant, and fit-for-purpose.
  • Lead and oversee engineering activities including structural design, motions analysis, lift planning, and method development.
  • Review and approve engineering calculations, reports, and technical documentation in line with industry standards and company procedures.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate technical and operational risks throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Provide technical input into tendering, planning, and project execution, supporting both project and commercial teams.
  • Attend technical reviews, client meetings, site visits, and offshore/onshore operations when required.
  • Deliver practical, real-time problem solving during live operations and high-risk activities.
  • Mentor and develop junior engineers, setting expectations around quality, accountability, and engineering best practice.
  • Support continuous improvement of engineering processes, tools, and methodologies.
  • Act as a key technical interface with clients, suppliers, and third parties, representing the business at a senior level.

Requirements:
  • Degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture or a related engineering discipline.
  • Proven experience delivering complex engineering solutions within marine/offshore environments.
  • Strong hands-on experience with: ANSYS (or equivalent FEA software), OrcaFlex for static and dynamic marine analysis, Solid understanding of , Structural and stress analysis.
  • Experience producing and reviewing Engineering calculations and report.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant standards (DNV, ISO, API, BS, EN).
  • Experience supporting live operations, including high-risk or time-critical activities.
  • Confident communicator, able to engage with clients, marine warranty surveyors, and third parties.
  • Proven ability to mentor and support engineers.
  • Full UK driving licence.
