Disrepair Surveyor (Interim)
We are currently working with a large public-sector housing provider in Bristol to recruit two experienced Disrepair Surveyors on an interim basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to support a busy Housing & Landlord Services team managing housing condition claims and legal disrepair cases.

Pay Rates PAYE: £231.22 per day Umbrella: £298.00 per day
The Role The Disrepair Surveyor will manage housing disrepair complaints that have escalated to legal claims, working closely with the client’s legal services team. The role focuses on resolving cases efficiently, minimising litigation, and delivering high-quality repair outcomes while maintaining a strong customer-focused approach.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage housing disrepair claims under the legal framework and internal complaints procedures - Carry out detailed property inspections and diagnose defects - Specify, schedule and oversee remedial works from inception to completion - Supervise contractors and in-house trade teams, ensuring quality, cost and time targets are met - Act as Project Manager, Supervisor and Contract Administrator on assigned cases - Produce technical reports, schedules of works and witness statements for legal files - Liaise closely with tenants, keeping them fully informed throughout the process - Support the assessment and recommendation of compensation in line with Housing Ombudsman guidance - Act as a professional witness in disrepair cases where required - Maintain accurate records and case documentation using internal systems - Champion customer satisfaction while managing expectations appropriately
Essential Experience
- Proven experience managing housing disrepair / housing condition claims - Strong knowledge of social housing legislation, building construction and defects diagnosis - Experience working within a local authority or social housing environment - Ability to manage legal cases with minimal litigation - Excellent communication skills, particularly with tenants and legal teams - Strong report writing and case management skills - Confident managing your own diary, inspections and site visits
