The department is responsible for the administration of law enforcement, correctional services, policing and police oversight and public safety. The Ministry supports crime prevention and restorative justice programs, as well as programs and services to support victims of crime, including those affected by domestic violence and human trafficking. The Edmonton Remand Centre is searching for motivated individuals and positive role models with cultural and community awareness for an Operational Services Position.Reporting to the Warehouse Supervisor, you will be responsible for the secure handling and management of offender property, institutional goods, and monetary items. You will also ensure the timely distribution of inmate clothing, supplies, and other essential items to housing units throughout the facility.In this role, you will regularly interact with inmates, law enforcement agencies, healthcare professionals, and correctional officers.Additional responsibilities may include operating a 5-ton truck, working in a loading dock and shipping/receiving environment, and supporting fleet management activities. This includes coordinating routine vehicle maintenance and detailing services with local automotive providers. Qualifications High school diploma and at least one year of related experience such as stock keeping or working in a warehouse environment.Equivalency: One year of directly related experience for one year of directly related education, or one year of directly related education for one year of directly related experience.Assets and Preferences will be considered as follows: Customer service experience in an environment handling cash or personal property such as a bank, registry, or courthouse. Previous Supervisory experience. Working knowledge and working experience in Microsoft based applications.  Some general mechanics experience. Direct contact with offenders and heavy lifting is required, must be able to lift up to 50lbs. The term for wage positions is ongoing. Employees in wage positions are not eligible for benefits or vacation pay. Instead, they receive 11.6% in lieu of these entitlements.The Edmonton Remand Centre is located at 18415 127 Street, NW, Edmonton. Public transportation to the Centre is limited and the successful candidate is required to have access to reliable transportation.
