About the role
The role as Business Development Manager will have the overall responsibility to work with market insights, market positioning, data analysis and business cases, product development projects from a commercial perspective, customer projects and strategic partners, and other activities focused on strategically growing the Food Ingredients business area.
A lot of effort will be put into the new pea protein segment as well as working on a strategic plan and direction for the growth of the business area, focusing on building new partnerships, growing current ones, and assessing future market potential.
Apart from being the one who takes the broader perspective and focuses on the long-term strategy – this role will also be highly operative and hands on. Positioned in-between sales and product development, the role will be active in building long-term customer and partner relations as well as contribute to product development based on strategic business goals and customer needs. The role will also be responsible for marketing and communication with the help of internal and external resources.
The Business Development Manager reports to Head of Food Ingredients and is a member of the Food Ingredients Management Team.
The role will be positioned in either one of the production facilities in Kimstad, Lidköping and Norrköping – or at the head office of Lantmännen Group in Stockholm.
The role will be traveling frequently, mainly within Europe, for customer meetings, partner meetings and fairs.
Key responsibilities:
Drive and follow up on strategic and operational activities to achieve Lantmännen Biorefineries’ goals within the ingredients business Strategic market positioning and development of the product portfolio within the area of responsibility to optimize profitability Business development of new and existing products, collaborations, and services Preparation of profitability calculations and business cases to evaluate existing, potential, and new business opportunities Lead and report on market intelligence activities (market analysis, competitor analysis, customer analysis, substitutes, etc.) and translate insights into business opportunities Marketing and external communication within the area of responsibility, including participation in relevant trade fairs Customer care activities and customer engagement both digitally and physically
Desired experience
To succeed in this role, we believe you have:
University degree in a relevant field such as economics or engineering Experience in complex B2B sales – preferably within manufacturing-, process- or ingredient industry Experience working with large-scale customers, deals and contracts Experience in entering new markets and segments Experience in marketing and communication, to steer internal and external resources Leadership experience Strong analytical skills Excellent English skills – and preferable fluent in Swedish
Likely you are also experienced within:
Generating business within niche segments or markets that are difficult to enter Customer-centric product development within manufacturing and/or process industries International customers and collaborations
