The International Relations (IR) Division leads the efforts to represent Alberta's interests internationally and is focused on achieving Alberta's international priorities, including creating the necessary conditions to facilitate and promote trade development, investment attraction, talent attraction, and advocacy. The Division has a mandate to strategically position Alberta on global stage by assuming a leadership role in supporting Alberta-based elected officials in international engagement and representing Alberta to officials of foreign government and enterprises. Within the IR Division, the Premier’s Investment Council and International Operations Branch provides operational management, strategic advice, and oversight through two units: the Alberta International Network and Premier’s Investment Council and Data Analytics.   Reporting to the Assistant Deputy Minister of IR, the Executive Director, Premier's Investment Council and International Operations Branch provides strategic leadership and oversight for governance and secretariat support to the Premier’s Investment Council (PIC) and manages the overall operations, planning, and oversight of the Alberta International Office (AIO) network. The Executive Director is responsible for the overall development and implementation of programs and initiatives that support Alberta's engagement activities, including the stakeholder relations management system.   The Executive Director also provides directions to implement good governance practices for PIC while providing secretariat support. PIC is an advisory council that assembles leadership from key government ministries responsible for investment attraction, economic development, and resource sector growth, along with representatives from provincial agencies with responsibility for investment attraction. PIC will share market intelligence, strategic insight and advice that will enhance system-wide collaboration to identify, track and support large-scale investment into the province.     Qualifications You bring extensive senior leadership experience, with deep expertise in international relations, economic and industry development, and investment strategy. You have a proven ability to work effectively with organizations and committees, providing strategic guidance to support governance, accountability, and reporting requirements. You also possess advanced knowledge of public administration and the leadership of international operations, including financial and administrative systems, human resources management, and international business protocols and legal frameworks related to AIOs. You also demonstrate a strong understanding of the Government of Alberta’s strategic priorities for investment attraction and international engagement. Your highly developed communication, political acumen, and relationship‑management skills, combined with operational agility, position you to lead successfully in complex environments and achieve results aligned with the organization’s mandate.   A Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Business, International Relations, Economics, or a related field is required.
